History of Acupressure

Acupressure is one of the most ancient of the healing arts and is closely related to acupuncture.

The ancient Chinese identified over 1,000 points on the body which could be stimulated to promote the flow of energy, referred to as Qi (or Ch'i).  These points are connected by channels commonly referred to as 'meridians'.

Benefits

Acupressure can be used to treat various ailments including arthritis, asthma, constipation, indigestion, insomnia and sinusitis.

Treatment

The therapist will conduct a consultation to assist in producing a personal treatment plan and to ascertain any medical conditions which may have a bearing on the type of treatment which can be offered.

Clients may feel a mildly uncomfortable sensation as the treatment is being carried out but any discomfort should be short-lived.  Acupressure treatment can be carried out in tandem with other treatments such as Theraputic Massage

It is advisable to take time to relax for a short time after any treatment, and avoid any strenuous activity or alcohol for a few hours following any treatment.
